Jon Schaffer created with ICED EARTH one of the most successful Power Metal bands ever. In 1991 the Indiana, USA native released his first self-titled debut album on Century Media Records, followed in the subsequent decade by 8 more albums, one EP and a luxurious 5-disc box set. In spite of the U.S. trend-laden music scene, Jon always kept true to himself, an attitude that paid off with a loyal-to-the-bone fan base and various chart entries all over Europe. Now, almost 14 years later, it's time to honour his work with a specially packaged Best Of double disc retrospective. 23 tracks culled between 1991 - 2001 from all of the band’s Century Media releases give us 125 minutes of not only the best of Iced Earth but also some of the finest heavy metal you’re likely to hear, period. The front cover was designed by noted Russian fantasy artist Leo Hao, who already did the artwork for the last Iced Earth album The Glorious Burden (on SPV/Steamhammer Records). The apocalyptic battle depicted on The Blessed And The Damned is a four-panel work that can be alternated by fans into two different front covers of their choosing. The 32-page booklet includes full lyrics, a complete history and liner notes by Jon Schaffer. And now please fasten your seat belts and follow us on a heavy trip through 10 years of Iced Earth’s history.
