Finntroll: release special European tour edition of “Nifelvind”
At the dawn of FINNTROLL’s HEIDENFEST headlining tour with their label mates Turisas (see tour dates below), the Finnish metal marauders will release a special tour edition of their last album “Nifelvind”. The Digipak tour edition comes in new artwork by the band’s guitarist Skrymer and an extra CD including three brand-new cover versions: “Insects (Oingo Boingo)”, “Can You Forgive Her? (Pet Shop Boys) and “The God That Failed (Metallica)”.The cover versions were recorded and mixed at Sonic Pump Studios 27.6- 4.7. 2011 by Finntroll and Nino Laurenne.
Henri ‘Trollhorn’ Sorvali comments “Insects (Oingo Boingo)”: “Because we don’t know how to play funky horn sections, we replaced them with Kazoos and various squeaky bladders. And instead of slap bass, we slapped the crap out of various ethnic percussions. Now - when an uncivilized brute in a Finntroll-shirt will ask you what the living insect is this Oingo Boingo, you can always answer “It´s the band Finntroll made famous by doing a cover version of one of their songs”. No, there is absolutely nothing else in this band worth mentioning, trust me. No famous composers, orchestrators or anything used to play in this band. No huge world tours, movie soundtracks, stunning videos, incredible visuality, nothing. This band or none of its members other works have never affected Finntroll anyway, and I strongly suggest you to not ever check it out and stick with Slayer instead.”
The 2010 album “Nifelvind” was hailed by the international press as FINNTROLL’s best album to date:
“If Mordor had a premier comedy club, Finntroll would be the resident band.” The Sun (UK)
“’Nifelvind’, is something of a revelation … the band have returned to the epic melodic and uplifting territories that perhaps suits them best, but have crafted their most considered effort yet” 8/10 Metal Hammer (UK)
“There are many pretenders for FINNTROLL’s crown these days, but on the evidence of ‘Nifelvind’ no one is even coming close” – 8/10 Rock Sound (UK)
“‚Nifelvind’ is a compositional masterpiece!” 8,5/10 – Rock Hard (GER)
“Grab some vodka… and start dancing in front of the fire! FINNTROLL are the undisputed masters” 7/7 Rock Hard (I)
