Shadows Fall: Shadow's Fall 'The War Within' Makes Sales History
SHADOWS FALL recently added another milestone achievement to their already triumphant year as their latest album, The War Within, becomes the highest SoundScan selling U.S. release in Century Media's illustrious 14-year history. This impressive accomplishment comes after the group completed a successful U.S. arena tour alongside Slipknot while the critically acclaimed The War Within surpassed the 200,000 U.S. SoundScan plateau last month.
Things are only just beginning to heat up for the group as they're set to perform on the main stage at Ozzfest this summer, thereby not only becoming the first band of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal genre to achieve that honor, but one of the few in history to make the leap from the second stage to the main stage. Brian Fair (vocals) further describes the group's excitement: 'This summer is going to be a huge opportunity for us to prove ourselves onstage with some of the greatest bands in the history of metal. Playing the second stage of Ozzfest 2003 was one of the highlights of our career and now we have a chance to step it up on the main stage. We thank all of the people out there that have helped to make this such an incredible year for us and we can't wait to see you all on the road.'
Also, Jason Bittner (drums) was presented with the prestigious awards for Best Metal Drummer and Best Recorded Performance for The War Within from Modern Drummer magazine at the Modern Drummer Fest this past weekend. SHADOWS FALL are currently in Europe for a few shows with Slipknot along with some major festival appearances including Download, Rock im Park and Rock am Ring. This all comes alongside the group delivering a special performance at the prestigious Metal Hammer awards where they have been nominated in the 'Best Album' category, while guitarists Matt Bachand and Jon Donais were nominated for the 'Best Shredder' award.
