Dark Funeral: : signs with Century Media Records

DARK FUNERAL signs with Century Media Records

from left to right: Lord Ahriman (guitars), Dominator (drums), Jens Prueter (Head Of A&R at Century Media Records Europe), Zornheym (bass), Nachtgarm (vocals), Chaq Mol (guitars)

Swedish black metal legends DARK FUNERAL and Century Media Records are proud to announce the signing of a worldwide deal for the next 3 albums.

Guitarist and founding member Lord Ahriman comments: "Our bad luck with labels in the past has for sure been very frustrating. So it is with great pleasure to finally be able to turn the page, move on and start a new dark chapter in the DARK FUNERAL saga, as we join the great Century Media family. Century Media has more than enough proven to be a stable and highly professional label. And we are totally looking forward to this new cooperation, which I'm sure will prove to be very satisfying and successful for both parts. Hail the goat!"

Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Century Media Records Europe, comments: "I always respected DARK FUNERAL for their endurance and integrity. They've gone through some hard times, but never gave up and also never gave in to compromise on their musical and aesthetic vision. Almost 20 years after their formation it's still the same powerhouse of unmerciful black metal and the new line-up is stronger and more focused than in the past. Thanks to Lord Ahriman and the whole band! Looking forward to their 20th anniversary in 2013 with a new album In The Sign Of The Horns!"

Founded back in 1993 in the depths of Sweden by Lord Ahriman and Blackmoon, DARK FUNERAL has proven to be one of the leaders of the second wave of black metal among other legends such as MARDUK and DARKTHRONE. While other black metal bands lost themselves through the late 90's / early 2000's, DARK FUNERAL managed to remain faithful to their roots, be it musically, aesthetically and lyrically. After 5 albums, hundreds of live rituals, the band leaded by Lord Ahriman and now featuring Nachtgarm on vocals is ready to embark on a new satanic crusade with Century Media Records.

Expect nothing but pure black metal the way it was meant to be.

DARK FUNERAL 2012:
Nachtgarm - vocals
Lord Ahriman - guitars
Chaq Mol - guitars
Zornheym - bass
Dominator - drums

EVOCATION premieres first track from new demo compilation, "Evoked From Demonic Depths - The Early Years", on Decibel Magazine.com

Swedish death metal sovereigns EVOCATION will be digitally releasing a new demo compilation, Evoked From Demonic Depths - The Early Years, on June 26th in North America with imports of the CD available exclusively at CM Distro (in addition to a 32-page booklet, the CD version also includes three live bootleg video enhancements). In anticipation of this release, the band has now premiered a track from the compilation, "Through The Darkened Peril", on Decibel Magazine.com:

<a href="http://www.decibelmagazine.com/featured/streaming-evocation-through-the-darkened-peril/">http://www.decibelmagazine.com/featured/streaming-evocation-through-the-darkened-peril/</a>

Tracks 1 through 4 are taken from The Ancient Gate demo, tracks 5 through 9 are from the Promo 1992 demo, tracks 10 through 13 are previously unreleased rehearsal tracks-- and as a very special addition to this compilation, the band has also recorded the previously unreleased track "Genesis", which was written in 1992. "Genesis" was recorded at IF Studios (IN FLAMES, THE HAUNTED, etc.) by producer Robert Laghi. All tracks were mastered at Fascination Street Studio (OPETH, PARADISE LOST, ENSLAVED, etc.), and the re-mastering of the demo tracks was done using the original master tapes.

Besides the historical musical content, this compilation is packed with in-depth information about the history of EVOCATION. A foreword has been written by Anzo Sadoni (Metal Hammer), Björn-Thorsten Jaschinski (Rock Hard & Legacy) and Frank Schenk (Chaos Magazine), and it takes a dive into EVOCATION's history from their start in 1991 through their reunion in 2005 and the release of the band's critically acclaimed third studio album, Apocalyptic. Guitarist Marko Palmén comments on every song and gives a detailed view into the writing process of the demos. In addition to this information, the compilation also includes band photos, concert flyers, and other visual content from the years 1991 to 1993, plus a balanced layout designed by Xaay (NILE, BEHEMOTH, etc.).

Morgoth: : posts video from upcoming live-release, "Cursed To Live"

MORGOTH posts video from upcoming live-release, "Cursed To Live"

On June 26th in North America (June 25th in Europe), MORGOTH will release their first-ever live CD/DVD set, Cursed To Live, that celebrates the band's 20th anniversary of their all-time classic album, Cursed. To give fans a glimpse of this upcoming release, the band has just launched a video clip of the track "Isolated" (Live at Way Of Darkness festival 2011) on Century Media's YouTube channel:

<A HREF="http://youtu.be/S4cfd3vYA70">http://youtu.be/S4cfd3vYA70</A>

Cursed To Live will be released digitally in North America, and the limited DVD+2CD will be available exclusively at CM Distro. The live show featured on the album was recorded at the band's triumphant show headlining the Way Of Darkness Festival 2011, where MORGOTH performed an extensive set of 15 songs that mainly came from Cursed, among various other death metal classics. The DVD includes the Way Of Darkness show in its entirety, plus additional live videos from Rock Hard Festival and their warm-up show in Wermelskirchen, as well as the band's historic four official music videos (the CD/DVD set includes an additional CD with six live tracks from the Rock Hard show and five live tracks from MORGOTH's show at Wacken Open Air 2011).

The cover artwork for Cursed To Live (which intentionally alludes to the original Cursed artwork) was designed by the renowned artist Dirk Rudolph (RAMMSTEIN, IN EXTREMO, APOCALYPTICA), who also created the original artwork for Cursed 21 (!) years ago. The audio of the live recordings was mixed by legendary death metal producer Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH, etc.) to sonic brilliance.

MORGOTH line-up 2012:
Marc Grewe - vocals
Harry Busse - lead & rhythm guitars
Sebastian Swart - rhythm guitars
Sotirios Kelekidis - bass
Marc Reign - drums

Read on to find out what press worldwide have to say about PARADISE LOST's critically-acclaimed new album:

"'Worth Fighting For', 'To the Darkness', 'The Glorious End' and the stunning title track are halcyon days tunes, when the only things that mattered were Big Gulps, a Sony CD Walkman (with car adapter) and the music of change...'Tragic Idol' won't sway the 40,000+ morons who bought METALLICA's 'Beyond Magnetic' EP into believing in PARADISE LOST, but for the 40+ Painless--four of which hold residency at Decibel--still kicking around the States, it's a firm symbol that there's ample life left." -- DECIBEL MAGAZINE (US)

"Nearly 25 years into their career, PARADISE LOST demonstrate with 'Tragic Idol' that 13 (as in albums) can be a particularly exquisite number...the music only gets better as you dig deeper." -- EXCLAIM! (CA)

"Another excellent PARADISE LOST record." -- METAL SUCKS.net (US)

"As the band near the 25-year mark in their storied career, the stark change in music direction from their early days of doom-laden death metal to the synth-metal of 'Host' to today's melodic brand of gothic metal tends to obscure the fact that they've been one of the most consistent acts in heavy music since the late Eighties...the melodies that can be found on 'Tragic Idol' are far more plaintive than soaring, and in places even downright sinister." -- GUITAR WORLD.com (US)

"'PARADISE LOST fans have plenty to look forward to from this album, and it's got cross-genre appeal due to the range of influences readily heard in the music." -- METAL UNDERGROUND.com (US)

"'Tragic Idol'is easily the best that PARADISE LOST have sounded since the early-to-mid-nineties...PARADISE LOST's triumphant return to yesteryear is finally upon us. And oh what a glorious return it is." -- THE NEW REVIEW.net (US)

"PARADISE LOST are incapable of making anything mediocre." -- SPUTNIK MUSIC.com (US)

"...throbs with the vehement class we've come to expect." -- KERRANG (UK)

"...it's great to have these waylaid pioneers back doing what they do best." -- METAL HAMMER (UK)

"The band never ever presented their excellence better than today." -- ROCK HARD (GER)

"This record has some of the most impressive songs they ever wrote." -- REVOLVER (SPAIN)

"This album reaches their most ambitious goal." -- METAL HAMMER (ITALY)

"PARADISE LOST fans couldn't wish for a better album than 'Tragic Idol'." -- AARDSCHOK (NL)

"PARADISE LOST is returning to their roots with an album that defines their original sound while sounding fresh and very inspired!" -- HARD ROCK MAG (FRANCE)

TesseracT: : Premieres "Dream Brother" via Metal Hammer UK

UK's TESSERACT has just made "Dream Brother" available as stream via Metal Hammer UK's website, so head over to check out this very special cover of the song:
<a href="http://www.metalhammer.co.uk/news/tesseract-exclusive-tesseract-dream-brother-premiere/" target=blank>http://www.metalhammer.co.uk/news/tesseract-exclusive-tesseract-dream-brother-premiere/</a>

Amos Williams (bass): "We decided to cover 'Dream Brother' (originally by Jeff Buckley) for an acoustic session in New York. Myself and Acle spent ages looking at different tracks. I think we entertained 'Tear Drop' by Massive Attack, 'Thin Air' by Anathema, and many more. But 'Dream Brother' just fits TESSERACT very well. Plus it is one of our collective favourite tracks. It's always a risk working with a track that you love, but we feel we did it justice. It's a great showcase for the musicianship in TESSERACT, and the deep emotive power that Elliot has added to the band since he joined."

"Dream Brother" will be out on the Perspective EP that is set for a North American release of May 22 and a European release of May 21. The five song digital only EP features "Eden 2.0", acoustic versions of three tracks ["Perfection (acoustic)", "April (acoustic)", "Origin (acoustic)"] from the band's debut album, One, plus the aforementioned cover of Jeff Buckley's classic, "Dream Brother". As a bonus, iTunes will offer instrumentals of all the songs on the EP.
