<title>Despised Icon: : Issue Final Statement Before The Last Six Shows of Their Career</title>
<description>DESPISED ICON Issue Final Statement Before The Last Six Shows of Their Career

Canadian Crushers DESPISED ICON are finishing up their final dates as a band. Soon, one of Canada's brightest stars will be no more and your last chance to partake in the madness that is a DESPISED ICON live show is around the corner. Alex Erian has issued the following statement about the upcoming final dates:

"It's been a while already since we made THE announcement and I know some of you are probably saying 'WTF, these guys still aren't done yet?!' Well, instead of canceling the tours we had in the works at the time, we figured it'd be a good opportunity to play in our favourite cities, tour in a few countries we had never visited before and rock out with you guys for the last time.

"After touring in 24 countries in the last 6 months, we're finally back home and getting ready to play our last Quebec and Ontario shows next week. This final world tour was simply amazing and since this is the last time we check-in with you guys, I just want to sincerely thank you all once again for all your help and support. We've had some good fucking times together!

"For those who were planning on coming to our final Montreal shows, we have a few surprises for you. The original Despised Icon line-up (2002-2006) will make its appearance and play a few songs from the first 2 albums! We're also happy to announce that our brothers in Ion Dissonance and Beneath The Massacre will be supporting their new records for the first time at home and ABACABB will also be playing one of their last shows ever with us. Our homies in The Acacia Strain, Oceano and Mychildren Mybride will also be part of the event. It's gonna be epic. Bandeapart.ca will film and host the entire last set on their website for free so make sure you demonstrate how we do things in MTL! See you soon!"

<title>Despised Icon: : DESPISED ICON Announce Final Tour of Their Career</title>
<description>DESPISED ICON Announce Final Tour of Their Career

Brutally intense, unrelenting and outright savage were just a few ways the metal community described Montreal's hottest export DESPISED ICON as any of their live shows are a true lesson in violence. After four, full-length albums backed with an unrelenting worldwide touring schedule the band has decided to call it a day and wrap up a stellar career with a final U.S. and Canadian trek this fall. Be sure to stay tuned to www.myspace.com/despisedicon to view all upcoming tour dates as they are posted in the coming weeks.

Alex Erian (vocals) further states: "It's been a little while since we've checked in with you guys. We're currently enjoying our first summer at home in over six years and it feels pretty damn good. However, we did receive amazing news a few days ago. Our last North American run is almost completely booked. We'll be touring most of the U.S. and Canada in September and October with our friends in Misery Index, Revocation and The Last Felony. We're stoked to have three of our favorite death metal bands on board with us for the final tour and urge you guys to check them out if you haven't already. Stay tuned as dates are coming soon."

      <title>Despised Icon: : CALL IT QUITS</title>
<description>Here's a statement from the band:

"The time has come for us to move on. Some of us have recently reached a new chapter in their lives, starting families, buying houses and pursuing other careers to make it all happen. Writing music, touring and leaving home for months at a time is slowly becoming impossible because of that. We all decided that it'd be best to pull the plug now and end things right.

It's hard to believe we started this band almost 10 years ago already. At first, Despised Icon was mostly just an excuse to hang out, write brutal slam riffs and play local shows once in a while. With your support, we got the opportunity to actually play music for a living, make friends around the world, be MVPs and travel to places we never even dreamed of visiting in our lifetime. Thank you all for some of the best times of our lives.

We're currently working on setting up our final tours in Canada, USA and Europe. Expect to see us in a town near you sometime before the end of the year. If all goes as planned, we'll also be touring Australia and Asia for the first time in the fall. We'll keep you posted on everything. These last shows will be fucking epic! See you guys then!"

<title>Despised Icon: : DESPISED ICON Release The Much Anticipated New Album Day of Mourning</title>
<description>Brutally intense, unrelenting and outright savage are just a few ways the metal community will describe the new offering from Montreal's hottest export DESPISED ICON as their new full-length effort, Day of Mourning is a true lesson in violence. This unrelenting new offering is now available everywhere. The material contained on this disc should come bearing a caution label stating "Is known to evoke extreme, erratic and violent tendencies coupled with a desire to kill."

All of you DI fanatics out there can rejoice as the band will be embarking on a massive North American headlining tour this fall with Through The Eyes of The Dead, ABACABB and Molotov Solution. This Lambgoat.com sponsored "Day of Mourning Tour" kicks off on Sept. 24th and be sure to visit the band's newly revamped MySpace page [http://www.myspace.com/despisedicon](http://www.myspace.com/despisedicon) in order to view their complete touring itinerary.

Alex Erian (vocals) further states: "We can't begin to possibly describe how proud we are of this new album. It's basically composed of every element we created on our previous offerings, but refined to perfection to make it deadlier and more crushing than ever before. This material is about as fast and precise as we could possibly make it without killing ourselves and we are so excited to hear fans' reactions. This album is the definitive release of our career and you can definitely expect to hear a good amount of it on our upcoming headlining North American tour that kicks off this week. We are going to perform an hour plus set each night, so be sure to bring you're A-game because it's going to be a long entertaining night. We hope to see you all soon and be sure to stop by the merch booth to say hello. Hell yeah."

The group recently shot a new conceptual video for the album's vicious title track, "Day of Mourning," and it's definitely not your traditional metal video clip. The video was shot with famed Montreal hip hop video producers, Kartel Film. Expect to see cemetaries, fancy cars, 40 ozs, hot bitches and a double dose of brutality. Trust us, the video rules!

DESPISED ICON brought on board an all-star team for the Day of Mourning recording process. They joined back up with longtime producer (and former guitar player) Yannick St-Amand for all tracking duties with renowned producer Andreas Magnusson (Black Dahlia Murder, Born of Osiris) entering the fold to mix the effort, with mastering being handled by Alan Douches (Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Nile).

The material contained on this disc should come bearing a caution label stating "Is known to evoke extreme, erratic and violent tendencies coupled with a desire to kill." The dichotomy of the dual vocal assault of Alex Erian and Steve Marois adds depth and dynamic that few bands can attempt to replicate. The addition of new bassist Max Lavelle quickly proved his skills keeping up with the maniacal drumming of Alexandre Pelletier who delivers his most impressive performance yet, raising the bar for his peers within the genre. Longtime guitarist Eric Jarrin and newcomer Ben Landreville round everything out with a blistering, frenetic barrage of cut-throat riffs.

<title>Despised Icon: : DESPISED ICON: New DVD, Tour With Beneath The Massacre and Carnifex</title>
<description>Since their beginnings in 2002, Montreal's DESPISED ICON have established themselves as one of the most ferocious bands in the genre. Most recently, the band brought their intense live show to venues across the nation as part of the Summer Slaughter Tour. Now these crushing Canadians have unveiled plans for their first-ever DVD release, entitled Montreal Assault. The DVD, which will be released in North America on January 27th, features the band as they treked across Canada during their 2008 headlining tour.

In support of the Montreal Assault DVD, DESPISED ICON will be hitting the road in Jan. 2009 for their first North American headlining stint. Supporting the band during this tour will be Beneath The Massacre, Carnifex, Neuraxis and The Plasma Rifle. Be sure to catch the band on this tour and be on the lookout for a new offering from DESPISED ICON in 2009!

Vocalist Alex Erian comments: "We had so much fun on the Summer Slaughter tour so we recently decided to book one last U.S. tour in February before entering the studio! This will be our first time headlining the U.S. Finally we'll be able to play a long ass set, covering all 3 DI records. You can also expect to hear a new song or two on there. Instead of saying my usual 'we're stoked for tour' comment, I'd like to take a few extra seconds to thank all our American fans for supporting us throughout the years. We've been extensively touring your country for close to four years already and none of this would have been possible without your help and encouragement. You guys have seen us evolve as a band and as individuals. I don't give a fuck how cheesy this sounds, thank you all. Later guys."

The DVD features a stellar, multi- camera shoot from the band's sold-out hometown show, alongside a new hour long documentary and all of the band's promotional video clips. This DVD undoubtedly proves that DESPISED ICON are one of the most lethal live acts out there today and this affordably priced offering is a must have. Head over now to [http://www.myspace.com/despisedicon](http://www.myspace.com/despisedicon) to check out the live version of the track "The Ills of Modern Man" and to view the DVD's striking artwork.
