<title>Fu Manchu: : New FU MANCHU Album Available For Streaming; Shoot New Video</title>
<description>We Must Obey, the new album from Southern California fuzz-rockers FU MANCHU, is now available for streaming at the band's official MySpace page, [www.myspace.com/fumanchu](www.myspace.com/fumanchu). It will remain posted until the album's Feb. 20 street date.

Vocalist, guitarist and founding member Scott Hill describes the record as his "favorite FU MANCHU album from start to finish," but he also acknowledges that it represents an angrier and more aggressive side of the band than some might expect. "The title We Must Obey is a big 'Fuck you' to people who like to tell us what we can and can't do," he says. "It's not specifically directed at any one person, just at the thought of someone thinking that they know what's best for you, more than you knowing what's best for you. That theme runs through the entire record.

"It's a pissed-off sounding record," Hill continues. "There are a few 'quiet' moments, but those are rare. I grew up on hardcore - punk rock bands from '80 to '85 - so I definitely think those influences are showing up a little more. There are some straightforward rock riffs on there as well. Overall, it's a very full, heavy and fuzzy-sounding record."

The band's tenth album (and Century Media/Liquor and Poker debut), We Must Obey - praised by Decibel as the band's "best set of riffs in years" - was recorded at Hollywood's Grandmaster Recorders studio (Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Black Crowes). Finishing touches were added by Gene Grimaldi at Oasis Mastering (Velvet Revolver, Pennywise, Rev. Horton Heat).

In addition to the songs "Hung Out To Dry" and "Between The Lines" - both currently available on the limited-edition Hung Out To Dry EP - the album includes a cover of The Cars' classic "Moving In Stereo."

In other news, FU MANCHU will film a video for "Hung Out To Dry" in Los Angeles this weekend with director Lucas Heyne (Master P, Tsar, Switchfoot). Look for it to premiere shortly after the band kicks off a six-week U.S. tour on Feb. 28. See the tour section for the complete itinerary.

<title>Fu Manchu: : FU MANCHU Premiere New Track; Announce Guitar Contest</title>
<description>Southern California fuzz-rock quartet FU MANCHU have posted a second song from their new album We Must Obey, "Knew It All Along," on their official MySpace page, [www.myspace.com/fumanchu](www.myspace.com/fumanchu). On Tuesday (Feb. 13), the complete We Must Obey album will be posted at the same location, where it will be available for streaming until the album's Feb. 20 release date.

Though it follows in the formidable footsteps of such fuzz-rock landmarks as In Search Of..., The Action Is Go and King Of The Road, We Must Obey is being hailed as FU MANCHU's finest offering to date. Guitar World praises its "uncompromisingly thunderous, combining Sabbath-like riffs and punk rock attitude," while Metal Edge says the album proves that "FU MANCHU is the essence of pure rock." Meanwhile, Alternative Press takes a minimalist approach in its 4.5-star review: "We Must Obey is the new FU MANCHU album. It has 11 songs. What more do you need to know?"

In other news, Century Media Records will issue a limited-edition clear vinyl version of We Must Obey on May 8. In conjunction with its release, Ampeg will give away a clear guitar - the Dan Armstrong Plexi model played by FU front man Scott Hill. One of the 2,000 copies of the We Must Obey clear vinyl will include a "golden ticket" with instructions on how to redeem the grand prize. More details on the clear vinyl (which can currently be preordered at CMDistro.com) / clear guitar contest are included in the new We Must Obey e-card now posted at [www.centurymedia.com/fumanchu](www.centurymedia.com/fumanchu)

FU MANCHU kicks off a six-week nationwide tour in San Francisco on Feb. 28. See below for the complete itinerary.

<title>Fu Manchu: : FU MANCHU announces first leg of \\'We Must Obey\\' tour</title>
<description>On Feb. 28, California rock powerhouse FU MANCHU will commence their first North American tour in nearly two years, a six-week headlining trek. This will kick off the world tour in support of their new album *We Must Obey* (street date: Feb. 20), praised by *Decibel* as the band's "best set of riffs in years, a veritable smoker's delight of fuzz tones and fast times that's so SoCal, it hurts." Support will be provided by Valient Thorr and, depending on the market, either Seemless or Artimus Pyledriver.

The *We Must Obey* tour will be the band's longest since they lapped the world in support of 2001's *California Crossing*, a trek that ultimately yielded a celebrated double-live album, *Go For It.Live!* Vocalist, guitarist and founding member Scott Hill can't wait for the Kings of the Road to resume doing what they do best.

"Now the real fun begins - playing these new songs loud and live," he says. "This is the way they were meant to be heard. We will bring along a lot of amps and a lot of fuzz pedals."

FU MANCHU's tenth album and Century Media/Liquor and Poker debut, *We Must Obey* was recorded at Hollywood's Grandmaster Recorders studio (Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Black Crowes). Finishing touches were added by Gene Grimaldi at Oasis Mastering (Velvet Revolver, Pennywise, Rev. Horton Heat). In addition to the songs "Hung Out To Dry" and "Between The Lines" - both currently available on the new limited-edition *Hung Out To Dry* EP, which combines a 7" single and a four-track compact disc - the album includes a cover of The Cars classic "Moving In Stereo."

<title>Fu Manchu: : FU MANCHU Front Man Comments On Van Halen, Cars Covers</title>
<description>FU MANCHU - recently described by the Los Angeles Times as "Southern California sludge-merchants (who) deliver riff-heavy rock straight out of the \\'70s" - have frequently covered other artists' music over the course of their career. In addition to their well-known take on Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla," the band has previously tackled Devo ("Freedom of Choice"), SSD ("Nothing's Done"), Black Flag ("Six Pack") and Sammy Johns ("Chevy Van").

On their two newest releases, the group continues the trend: Their new limited-edition EP Hung Out To Dry features an inspired take on the Van Halen classic "D.O.A.," while their forthcoming tenth full-length, We Must Obey, includes a rendition of The Cars' "Moving In Stereo," a well-known track from that act's multi-platinum 1978 debut.

"'Moving In Stereo' in one of our favorite Cars songs - and plus, there's always a Cars song in every crappy teenage party movie," says FU MANCHU guitarist, vocalist and founding member Scott Hill. "I think it was Bob (Balch, guitars) who started playing the opening riff at practice, and it sounded really good with a lot of fuzz and tuned down to D. We all joined in and shortened it to about three minutes. I think we made it sound like a FU MANCHU song, for better or worse. It gets heavy and really kicks in at the end."

As for the Van Halen cover included on Hung Out To Dry, Hill admits that "D.O.A." is "one of only a few Van Halen songs that I really like. The rest of the guys in FU MANCHU are way bigger fans than I am, but they do have a great fuzzy, heavy thing happening with their early records. It's hard to top early Van Halen, so we just played the song how we would play any of own songs. It's a fun song to play."

Last week, FU MANCHU celebrated the release of Hung Out To Dry with a sold-out show at the Viper Room in Hollywood, Calif. The EP can be ordered for $6 at CMDistro.com, while the title track is currently streaming on the band's MySpace page, [www.myspace.com/fumanchu](www.myspace.com/fumanchu)

<title>Fu Manchu: : FU MANCHU Announce New Album Title</title>

\\"\\'Hung Out To Dry\\' is one of our new favorites to play live,\\" says guitarist/vocalist Scott Hill. \\"We\\'ve played it live a few times and it seems to be going over well. We usually keep our songs short and to the point, but this one we wanted to extend a little because we really liked playing the riff.\\"

The Hung Out EP will be released on Nov. 28 in a unique dual format nicknamed \\"The Deuce,\\" in which a 7\\" vinyl single and a four-track compact disc will be packaged together in a gatefold seven-inch sleeve. The 3,000-copy, limited-edition release can be pre-ordered for $6 at CMDistro.com.

<title>Fu Manchu: : FU MANCHU Reveals Cover Art For New EP</title>
<description>The cover artwork for the new FU MANCHU EP, Hung Out To Dry, has been posted at CMDistro.com. The 3,000-copy, limited-edition release - to be released Nov. 28 - can currently be pre-ordered for $6 at this location: [https://www.cmdistro.com/shop/index.aspx?page=item&amp;iditem=22599](https://www.cmdistro.com/shop/index.aspx?page=item&amp;iditem=22599)

The artwork was designed by John McGill, who first collaborated with FU MANCHU on their 2004 release, Start The Machine. McGill will also design the cover art for the band\\'s forthcoming new studio album, which will be released in February.

Co-produced by the band members themselves, the Hung Out EP will be released in a unique dual format nicknamed \\"The Deuce,\\" in which a 7\\" vinyl single and a four-track compact disc will be packaged together in a gatefold seven-inch sleeve. \\"We worked on the new songs in the shack that\\'s on the cover of the Hung Out EP,\\" says founding guitarist Scott Hill. \\"We could turn up as loud as we wanted to - always a good thing when working on new stuff. We had a clear view of the ocean while we were practicing, and the calm ocean was a great contrast to what we were writing.\\"

Next Monday (Nov. 13), FU MANCHU will premiere the EP\\'s title track on their MySpace page, [http://www.myspace.com/fumanchu](http://www.myspace.com/fumanchu). Three nights later, in their first performance in nearly a year, the group will debut new material from both the Hung Out EP and their as-yet-untitled new full-length at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Upcoming FU MANCHU shows:
11/16 Detroit Bar - Costa Mesa, Calif.

<title>Fu Manchu: : FU MANCHU To Release New EP In November</title>
<description>Legendary SoCal quartet FU MANCHU - hailed by their hometown O.C. Weekly as "soul-cleansing, no-frills, balls-out rock n' roll" - will issue a new EP, Hung Out To Dry, on Nov. 28. The four-track release will contain two songs from their forthcoming tenth studio album, a cover of Van Halen's "D.O.A." and an original track exclusive to the EP, which will be limited to 3,000 copies worldwide. It can be pre-ordered for $6 at this location: [https://www.cmdistro.com/index.aspx?page=item&amp;iditem=22599](https://www.cmdistro.com/index.aspx?page=item&amp;iditem=22599). (Please note that the image is not the actual cover art.)

To make the EP even more appealing, the band's American label, Liquor and Poker Music - the rock imprint of Century Media Records - will release the Hung Out EP in a unique dual format. Nicknamed "The Deuce," the gatefold seven-inch single will also include a compact disc. The track listing is as follows:

CD EP:
1. Hung Out To Dry (album version)
2. Between The Lines (album version)
3. Never Again (EP exclusive)
4. D.O.A. (EP exclusive)

Seven-inch:
A. Hung Out To Dry (album version)
B. Between The Lines (album version)

"This EP is a small sampling of what's to come," says founding member Scott Hill (vocals/guitar). "I think the whole band wanted to get a little more aggressive with these new songs. I sure did. I'm a huge fan of old punk and hardcore, and those influences are starting to show.

"'Hung Out To Dry' was the first song we wrote as soon as we finished touring for our last record," he continues. "We kept playing the main riff throughout the year while we were on tour. Bob (Balch, guitars) and I pulled out the old fuzz pedal to get a dirty tone. 'Between The Lines' and 'Never Again' were written to beats that (drummer Scott) Reeder would play. Once Reeder gets going, it's hard to stop him. Listen closely - he even screams in the break in 'Between The Lines.'"

The Hung Out EP was co-produced by Andrew Alekel (Weezer, Rancid, Queens of the Stone Age) and the band themselves. Recording took place at Hollywood's Grandmaster Recorders (Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age), while finishing touches were added at Oasis Mastering by Gene Grimaldi (Velvet Revolver, Pennywise, Rev. Horton Heat).

In their first performance in 10 months, FU MANCHU will debut new material from both the Hung Out EP and their as-yet-untitled new full-length at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, Calif. on Nov. 16. A flier is posted on the band's MySpace page, [www.myspace.com/fumanchu](www.myspace.com/fumanchu).
