Broken Hope : : taps James Murphy to mix new album, 'Omen of Disease,' featuring guest appearance by THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's Trevor Strnad

BROKEN HOPE has finished all recording work on their 6th studio album, Omen of Disease, and one of the many surprises that this album offers is a special guest appearance by Trevor Strnad of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER on the new BROKEN HOPE track, "Rendered Into Lard."

Trevor Strnad comments:
"I am beyond excited to be involved in the rebirth of this legendary Death Metal monster. BROKEN HOPE has been one of my favorite bands since I was a young metalhead, it's an absolute honor and pleasure to be a small piece of the action! The best part is that my contribution allowed me to hear a new song before everyone else, and I can proudly say this: They're baaaacccckkk!!!!"

BROKEN HOPE has also tapped James Murphy (DEATH, OBITUARY, TESTAMENT, etc.) to mix and master Omen of Disease at Murphy's studio, Safehouse Production.

BROKEN HOPE's Shaun Glass comments:
"Were pretty pumped to have long time friend and shred lord James Murphy on board for his über-sick mixing skills to complete the 'Omen of Disease' sessions. He has been part of BH history as he first appeared on our 'Repulsive Conception' album with a crushing guest solo...and now years later, Murphy will be on board to taking our finest works yet to a new level."

Omen of Disease was recorded between two studios: drums were exclusively recorded at Belle City Sound in Racine, WI with engineer Chris Wisco (LAZARUS A.D., JUNGLE ROT, ORIGIN, GORGASM), and the remaining bulk of the album was completed at Mercenary Digital Studios in Zion, IL with engineer Scott Creekmore (BROKEN HOPE, DIRGE WITHIN, LIVIDITY). Omen of Disease is slated for a worldwide release in late summer 2013 via Century Media Records. Stay tuned for more details about this new BROKEN HOPE album coming soon!

Broken Hope : : unveils new album title and exclusive appearances in May

BROKEN HOPE has revealed the title of their 6th studio release as Omen of Disease. The album title--created by chief-lyricist, Jeremy Wagner--is also an actual album track, which marks the first official BROKEN HOPE "title track" since their 1991 debut album, Swamped in Gore.

Jeremy Wagner comments about this upcoming release:
"Some time ago, a festering death metal prophecy indicated something sick and brutal was coming back from the dead. The malignant signs became evident when BROKEN HOPE first resurrected from the grave and then went on tour. A more sinister foreboding followed when BROKEN HOPE wrote a new death metal album for the world to hear. Today, I'm a harbinger, here to alert everyone of a 'death metal omen' that is upon us...I speak of the new BROKEN HOPE album, 'Omen of Disease.' The album title itself reeks of a musical offering that is nothing short of gruesome. 'Omen of Disease' will be released to infect everyone worldwide this summer. I promise: this death metal album is a most savage, feral, pestilential, and lethal creation. You've been warned..." -- Jeremy Wagner (April 2013)

Omen of Disease was recorded between two studios: drums were exclusively recorded at Belle City Sound in Racine, WI with engineer Chris Wisco (LAZARUS A.D., JUNGLE ROT, ORIGIN, GORGASM), and the remaining bulk of the album was completed at Mercenary Digital Studios in Zion, IL with engineer Scott Creekmore (BROKEN HOPE, DIRGE WITHIN, PUTRID PILE, LIVIDITY).

Omen of Disease is slated for a worldwide release in late summer 2013 via Century Media Records. Stay tuned for more details about this new BROKEN HOPE album coming soon!

Broken Hope : : posts new EPK online and offers new album update

Chicago death metallers BROKEN HOPE have now posted a new EPK, which includes a brief recap of the band's history, information about their upcoming album, and more. To watch it, please click the link here.

In regards to BROKEN HOPE's new album, Jeremy Wagner (guitars) comments: "We finished writing the new BROKEN HOPE album and plan to start recording in March with Chris Djuric at Belle City Sound and Scott Creekmore at Mercenary Digital Studios. As reported recently, the 11 tracks include, 'The Flesh Mechanic' and 'Give Me the Bottom Half'...and these are just the tip of a massive and sick iceberg. We plan to turn this new monstrosity in to Century Media in May--before our appearances at Extremefest (Germany) and Maryland Death Fest 2013."

BH was formed in 1988 by Wagner while he was in high school. Shortly after formation, they recorded two demo tapes and signed with indie label, Grind-Core Records. Then in 1991, they released their debut album, Swamped In Gore, launching the band out of the underground and into the mainstream. From there, the band signed to Metal Blade Records and released three more albums, all stellar examples of BH's fury, which etched their place in death metal history.

After BH's last album (1999's Grotesque Blessings) and world tours, Wagner cleaned house and put BH into "metal hibernation" in 2000. On January 20, 2010, original BH vocalist Joe Ptacek tragically committed suicide. He was only 37 years old. Before his death, Ptacek met with Wagner and Glass and discussed the resurrection of BH. With Ptacek's death, Wagner and Glass took time off to reconsider their next moves.

In 2012, BH signed with Hard Impact Management and vowed to make BH a full-time monster-- forever. Wagner and Glass recruited longtime friend and GORGASM vocalist, Damian Leski, as their new vocalist, and shortly after marked their return on the highly successful Carnival of Death tour. BH's high-intensity COD concerts received top-praise, and confirmed BH was back, and more rabid than ever. BH is currently booked for the 2013 editions of Extremefest (Germany) and Maryland Death Fest.

BH's first decade was filled with non-stop writing, touring, and constant visibility. The next chapter in their career will be even more productive as the band vows to never go away again.

Broken Hope : : issues band and album update

Chicago death metallers BROKEN HOPE have now issued a band and album update! Read on for the latest news, straight from the band themselves:

"We want to give you all a quick BROKEN HOPE update before the New Year, and we have some exciting news! First, congratulations to BROKEN HOPE's own Shaun Glass on the birth of his first child: Maddux Burton Glass, born Dec 17, 2012. Maddux enters the world just before Christmas and just as BROKEN HOPE is writing the new album!

Speaking of the new album, we can officially say that we've written 11 songs so far-- and are still trucking along with more material. The new material is so ferocious, we jokingly sum up the vibe of the new music as 'Reign In Bowels' because it's like someone took SLAYER's 'Reign In Blood' and mated that intensity and horror with the extremity and sickness of BROKEN HOPE's 'Bowels of Repugnance' album...It's insanely heavy and unrelenting! That said, here's a couple song titles we can release to you all-- chew on these: 'The Flesh Mechanic' and 'Give Me the Bottom Half.' We can't wait for you to hear 'em all! Happy Holidays everyone!" -- BROKEN HOPE

Broken Hope : : Century Media Records signs reformed Chicago death metal legends BROKEN HOPE

Century Media Records is pleased to announce the signing of reformed Chicago death metallers BROKEN HOPE.

Jeremy Wagner, BH's founder and chief lyricist/songwriter, comments: "For years, I wanted to write a new BROKEN HOPE album and see BH firmly placed with a new home. My dream came true as BROKEN HOPE just signed a worldwide deal with Century Media. I've harbored great appreciation for CM and its stellar roster of artists since '88, and I'm extremely happy and grateful to see BROKEN HOPE become part of the CM family. My sincere thanks to Robert Kampf and Maurizio Iacono for embracing our musical art. Watch for a new, sick and über-ferocious BROKEN HOPE album to hit the globe in 2013!"

Bassist Shaun Glass adds: "After taking part of an amazing North American tour that saw the rebirth of BROKEN HOPE, we are excited to be part of the mighty Century Media family. We promise to unleash one brutal and classic BH album next year!"
