The Crown : : New album in the making / on tour in Japan

Sweden's legendary death metal masters have published the following statement regarding the recording process for the follow-up album of the band's highly acclaimed Century Media debut "Doomsday King" (2010):

"A lot of things are happening with THE CROWN at this very moment. We are in the middle of recording a true masterpiece. Marko is more or less done with his rhythm guitar work and Magnus has started with the bass stuff. He recorded a bass track for one song today before we all got together and filmed a small 'jingle' for our Japanese friends. Only three months until we hit Japan for the very first time. We are extremely excited about this. Hopefully we'll see YOU there. Last but not least, we are very proud to announce our new lineup. Yes, we have a new member in the band. His name is Robin Sörqvist and he fits the band more than perfectly. You have probably heard him in the band IMPIOUS before. He's got the lead guitar skills and the will to kick ass, just as the rest of us.

Please embrace Robin with a big and loud HELL YEAHHHHH!!!!"

THE CROWN 2013 is:
Johan Lindstrand - Vocals
Marko Tervonen - Rhythm Guitar
Robin Sörqvist - Lead Guitar
Magnus Olsfelt - Bass
Janne Saarenpää - Drums

And for all you Japanese death metal maniacs and everyone else who is going to Japan in mid June, here is the info on THE CROWN's first ever Japanese tour:

Chaotic Tapestry presents
THE SPRING IS GONE tour 2013 - THE CROWN live in Japan
June 11th, 2013 - Sendai - Flying Son
June 12th, 2013 - Nagoya - Imaike 3 Stars
June 13th, 2013 - Osaka - Pangea
June 14th, 2013 - Fukuoka - Graf
June 15th, 2013 - Shizuoka - Sunash
June 16th, 2013 - Tokyo - Cyclone

The shows will be supported by GOROD, GOTSU TOTSU KOTSI, HYPOCRAS, AS SILENCE BREAKS and CREATE/DESTROY.

The Crown : : The Return of the Royal Five!

It's time to let THE CROWN speak about an exciting piece of news:

"We have an announcement to make, Johan Lindstrand has re-joined THE CROWN, this means that the original line-up is now ready to kill once again!!

THE CROWN September 2011:
Johan Lindstrand - Vocals
Magnus Olsfelt - Bass
Marko Tervonen - Rhythm Guitars
Janne Saarenpää - Drums
Marcus Sunesson - Lead Guitars

We would like to thank our metal-brother Jonas Stålhammar for the amazing team-work for the last couple of years!!! Respect!!!
Next week we'll start rehearsing new material (6-7 news songs written at this point). We hope to enter the studio early 2012.
We are thinking of doing a few Swedish dates within a couple of months (most likely a first re-union show in our hometown Trollhättan, this time in a proper club) and then focus on doing some kick-ass festivals in 2012."

Johan Lindstrand: "Hi there all amazing THE CROWN fans out there, Johan Lindstrand speaking:
Once again I have been blessed with the opportunity to join my oldest friends and brothers in arms Marko, Janne, Magnus and Markus. I'm am so grateful for this and I will do my best to make the original line-up live up to all expectations and we will definitely have a total blast together while rippin´ the world to pieces with a lot more years to come. Yeah, from now on I am the lead singer in this classic death metal outfit called THE CROWN. Damn! That feels good to say.
I will also take some time here to thank Jonas Stålhammar 'cause he did an amazing job on "Doomsday King". You rule dude!
Other than that I have to say: THE ORIGINAL 5 HAS RETURNED!!! Go hide your children."

Jonas Stålhammar: "Come in Number 51, your time is up! It's fitting quoting the classic Pink Floyd song right about now. My time with THE CROWN comes to an end with the return of the true voice of THE CROWN, Johan Lindstrand. It's been a bumpy but really enjoyable ride for me being a member of THE CROWN.
It's with great respect I step down to let Johan take his rightful place in the band again. I wish them all the best and they are truly my brothers still."

Needless to say that it was a pleasure to work with Jonas on "Doomsday King"!

Supported by massive media acclaim the band's much anticipated new album "Doomsday King" is now available all across Europe (it will be released on October 12th in North America). THE CROWN's Marko Tervonen is more than happy about this return:

"Hell yes!!! Today is the release date of our comeback album "Doomsday King". Should I say some grand words to get you all fired up? This album will reveal where our hearts are in 2010, and that is to deliver the best possible Death Metal that is within us. Death Metal is strong in us 2010! That's for sure!!!! I hope you'll find the time to give "Doomsday King" a couple of spins. Trust me, it's addictive!"

The Limited Edition Digipak also includes a 4-track bonus CD containing the following tracks: "Die Before Dying (Valcyrie-cover)", "In Bitterness And Sorrow" and "Kill 2010" (both re-recorded tracks from '97's "Eternal Death" album and the new track "Falling 'neath The Heaven's Sea".

The album is also available as standard CD, 180gr vinyl + the entire album on CD and digital download, so get this now & taste the death!

The Crown : : sign worldwide deal with Century Media Records

The Swedish Death Metal legend THE CROWN has signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records.

Marko Tervonen (guitar, THE CROWN) states:
"We are happy as hell to turn a new page in THE CROWN's history book...and to pick up the journey with Century Media Records supporting us feels great. We can't wait to unleash "Doomsday King" upon you all!!!"

Jens Prueter (Head Of A&R, Century Media Europe) adds:
"Some of the very early Century Media signings have been Unleashed, Grave, Tiamat, Asphyx, Morgoth - the glory days of the first Death Metal wave. We are still in love with Death Metal and are more than proud to announce the signing of Swedish Death Metal legend THE CROWN. They haven't lost any aggression since the early 90's and are still a guarantee for some Death Metal Holocaust! In case of doubt, go to one of the summer festivals and hear some new songs live before the album's coming out this fall. We will be there as well. Cheers!"

The band was founded in 1990 in Trollhättan under the name Crown Of Thorns but was forced to change their name to THE CROWN in 1998 due to another band from the US using that name. Three of the original founding members are still in the band: Marko Tervonen (guitar), Magnus Olsfelt (bass) and Janne Saarenpää (drums). In 1993 Marcus Sunesson (guitar, also playing in Engel) stepped in to replace Robert Österberg. In 2004 the band announced to break up, but good luck for all Death Metal fans they decided to reform in 2009 with Jonas Stålhammar (from the Death Metal pioneers God Macabre) who took over vocal duties from Johan Lindstrand. For more background information about the reunion, please check the in-depth interview Marko did last December with Metal Sucks:

The new album "Doomsday King" is planned for a September 2010 release. Stay tuned for more info and don't miss THE CROWN live:
