Oddland: : Releases Guitar Playthrough Video for "Lines Of Silver Blood" + on tour in April

Finland's ODDLAND has just launched a guitar play-through for the track "Lines Of Silver Blood". The band comments: "We decided to do the guitar play-through on this song because it probably has some of the most technical guitar parts of the album. We figured people might be interested to see how they�re played. The live guitar tracks were recorded on top of the album version, and Ville (our drummer) was in charge of shooting and editing the whole thing. Have a look, won't you!" This is the first play-through that the band has launched for their current album "Treachery Of Senses". Oddland: : Premieres music video for "In The Eyes Of The Mourning" with Inferno (FI)

ODDLAND has teamed up with Inferno to premiere the music video for "In The Eyes Of the Mourning". The video clip was shot earlier in May by visual artist Santeri Ojanen, who is also the brother of ODDLANDs singer/guitarist Sakari. This intriguing, eerie video is for the lead track from ODDLANDs debut album "The Treachery Of Senses", released on April 30th. The band has checked in to comment as follows on the video clip: "We feel that the video turned out to be an extension of our music: it might be a lot to take in at first view, but I think you can definitely find more layers and little cool details unfold with more views. The mood of the video is melancholy as well as slightly weird and twisted to create that Oddland -feel and we think it works perfectly with the song. The video gives a nice representation of what the song is about: Grievance, losing someone meaningful and losing yourself, and the lengths our psyche and will go to in order to keep everything in balance. Shooting the video throughout the night was not a picnic, let me say, but the atmosphere was very cool. The dark forest was lighted with spotlights, and our protagonist - the clown - was performing various peculiar acts. It was a cool experience; you can imagine the atmosphere was quite unique and surreal. Navigating all the equipment deep into the dark forest and out was also an "adventure" in itself ;)" "The shoot was a wild one as we did almost everything in 12 hours. We started at 8pm and the last people left with eyes wide open at 8am. This was the first video for Oddland, so it was totally clear to me how I wanted to introduce the band. Dark forest works as a metaphor for where they come from. Our northern country is rooted in darkness and the profound energy of nature. I also wanted to capture the emotion of the song, as well as open a window to a subconscious side of the human mind." Santeri Ojanen explains on the background of this video. Suomi Metal Star contest winner ODDLAND will release debut album in April Do you remember? It was ODDLAND from Turku who won the majority of the Suomi Metal Star contest jury members with sophisticated Prog Metal / Rock and got a record deal with Century Media Records. After spending months writing new material, the band is very excited to get the record out to fans. "This record was long in the making, as most of the tracks were already composed when we got signed by CM, but even the older songs evolved a lot during pre-production. We feel that in the end we succeeded in making a great record as a whole, rather than just a collection of individual songs." says Sakari Ojanen (vocals / guitar). "Working with Dan Swan� was very satisfactory - he really helped us attain the sound we were after. Also worth mentioning is the contribution of Samu Oittinen at Fantom Studios, who helped us nail the organic sound we wanted for the raw tracks. We feel there isn't too much of this kind of music out there so hopefully "The Treachery Of Senses" won't go unnoticed. In the end, we couldn't be happier with the outcome - we feel we made a killer debut album." Dan Swan�, Unisound, also comments: "One of the best albums I have mixed. Ever! Century Media Records, the Finnish Metal Expo, Inferno magazine, Terrorizer magazine and Imperiumi.net joined forces to search the SUOMI METAL STAR 2011. About 240 Finnish bands signed in for the Qualifying and 12 have been selected for a public online voting that closed on New Year's Eve. The 4 Finalist bands to played at the Finnish Metal Expo in Helsinki last Saturday 19.02.2011 and it was ODDLAND from Turku who won over the majority of the jury members with sophisticated Prog Metal/Rock - somewhere between Devin Townsend, Opeth or Katatonia. ODDLAND have been formed back in 2003 when four 18-year-old wimps decided to play heavy music to as a mental anti-acne medication. The mental acne never disappeared, but neither did the passion to play overdriven music with captivating melodies and intense energy. So far they made two recordings: the EP "Connecions Critical Behind" (2007) and the Demo/Promo "Away from the Watching Eye" (2009). The last demo can be bought at Recordshop X - they ship worldwide. ODDLAND's statement on signing to Century Media: "We are absolutely thrilled to be signed by Century Media Records and to be recording our debut album with them. We're very proud to become part of the Century Media family. There are many amazingly talented bands with the label and we're very honoured to become one of them. We've been playing together for a long time and it seems that all the hours spent at the rehearsal room were not in vain. We're going to work very hard to make the best debut album we can possibly make. We don't want to rush things however, because we want to put out music that will make us stick around.
