In order to further promote BORKNAGAR's much acclaimed current album "Urd", which was voted "album of the month" in the Germany's Metal Hammer Magazine as well as Norway's Scream Magazine upon release, a video clip for the outstanding song "The Earthling" track has recently been finalized. UK's Terrorizer Magazine proudly announces its European premiere HERE! BORKNAGAR's mastermind �ystein G. Brun comments on the video as follows: "The lyrical core-theme of BORKNAGAR has always been to portray the primal encounter between man and Nature, to project the poetry of Nature and to profess pondering about man's existence therein. Over the last couple of months we have been working with Twitchy Films to produce a video for the song "The Earthling". Thematically, this song really grips onto the backbone of the album "Urd" and the band in general. As with our music, we wanted to do something really unique and special- and not a typical metal video. You won't see a raging metal band in dim lights with scary effects, but rather a video that sophistically portray the beauty, magnitude and power of the Nature. The release date of BORKNAGAR's much anticipated new album "Urd" is only a few days away and the great news is that there is a massive positive vibe and media reaction towards the record! Kolstad's extreme drum abilities have been proven through several YouTube clips, TV-appearances in Norway and just recently he won the world championship in V- Drums, in Los Angeles. I would argue that each and every song on the new album stands on solid ground, but as usual with our music, the songs empower each other in the context of a full album. That said, "Roots" is probably the song on the album that gives you the most representative impression of "Urd". Musically it contains most of the elements that framework the musical universe of BORKNAGAR, and lyrically this song is gnawing on the very spine of our lyrical tradition. "The cover and design for 'Urd' is spot on when it comes to portraying the very core of the band. This time around we wanted an earthly expression through our cover and general design to support and empower the main themes on the album. You can almost smell and feel the texture of the old Norse wooden carvings - still there is a sophisticated and eclectic approach to the expression that entwines perfectly into the music. Marcelo Vasco enhanced our ideas into brilliance, he painted the face of the beast that is about to be unleashed..."

The band previously explained the album title and its overall concept as follows:
"Our previous album was called "Universal" and where should we go after an album title with such a magnitude? Well, we decided to head back home to earth. We really wanted to get back to the core of the band, where it all started - the admiration and pondering about nature and mankind's place therein. "Urd" is the name of one of the norns that according to northern mythology stands under Yggdrasill and weaves the lifeline of mankind. "Urd" is representing the past, while "Verdande" is representing the present and "Skuld" is representing the future. You might very well say that this is an ancient expression of what we today know as DNA. And I have always been very fascinated by the fact that parts and bits of our DNA actually derive from the very beginning of time. All living creatures are somewhat connected to the very first organic cell. That is some of the story behind the album title..."

Norwegian Avantgarde Metallers BORKNAGAR have finalized mixing duties for their upcoming studio album with Jens Bogren at acclaimed Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Paradise Lost, Katatonia, etc.) in Sweden and have now checked in to announce that the long awaited new effort will be titled "Urd" and is to be released on March 26th, 2012 in Europe as well as March 27th, 2012 in North America via Century Media Records. BORKNAGAR's mastermind �ystein G. Brun has checked in with the following message: "Well, our new album "Urd" was finished in mid December and all in all we spent about 6 months to record, produce and mix it. In the "Bork-World" this isn't really long, but I can assure you that we have never before invested so much time, energy and effort into one single production. It has been a tough, yet inspiring ride. Since June 2011 I have constantly been working with this album, recording, editing and so forth - day and night. The same goes for my comrades, never before have we made an album where everybody in the band has been so heavily involved and dedicated as this time around. "Urd" is surely the peak of our musical journey so far and we are extremely proud to have made this giant of an album! It's massive, it's emotional, it's fast, it's slow, it's epic, and it's progressive...all the ingredients that we have crafted our musical world on! And not to mention the "golden threesome" on vocals (Vintersorg, Mr. Vortex and Lazare) really shines on this album...Do I need to say more?!" The album will be mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at famous Fascination Street Studios in Sweden in November. �ystein G. I.C.S Vortex officially announce his return to BORKNAGAR. To mark this grand cooperation between Vintersorg and ICS Vortex, Inferno is announcing that BORKNAGAR will headline the 2012 edition with both vocalist on stage. Over the past months, there has been a wide array of rumors and speculations about I.C.S Vortex' involvement with BORKNAGAR, so now it's time for us to bring this out from the dungeons and into the plains of clarity: Vortex is back as a permanent member of BORKNAGAR. Vortex will handle the bass as well as doing vocals together with Vintersorg. Infernofestival also announces that BORKNAGAR is confirmed to next years edition, doing a rare concert with both these renowned singers on stage. The 28th of March BORKNAGAR signed a 3 album deal with Century Media Records. BORKNAGAR is currently working on material for a new album, at this point roughly scheduled to be released in early 2012. �ystein G. Brun comments: "Well, sometimes life takes slightly unexpected yet great turns! Due to internal business affairs the deal with Indie recordings was mutually terminated by both parties in January 2011. Since then we have been negotiating a possible re-signing with CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS. While you are reading this, Jens F. Ryland and I are at the headquarters of CMR in Dortmund to ink a new deal with our old partners in crime. If feels very good to be back in the fold of the mighty Century family- there is simply no team- no label alike. Thanks to Jens Preuter (head A&R) we have worked out and landed a deal that we are 110% sure will serve the future endeavors of BORKNAGAR in the best possible and most potent way.
